Q. How much calorie inactive person can burn in 24 hours?

Calories are heat and are generated by metabolism. The metabolic process in the body of an inactive man is called Basal Metabolic Rate/BMR. Even if a relaxed person does not work, some calories are consumed at a certain rate by heart, lung, kidneys etc. An intricate formula can be used to figure out calories burnt during inactivity.
Calories Burnt By Inactive Person
(1) Multiply the body weight (in Kg.) by ten.

(2) Now, measure body height in centimeter and multiply by 6.25

(3) Subtract the age from that answer five times.

(4) If it is male add 5 to the figure and if it is female subtract 161 from the figure.

Now, the final figure is Basal Metabolic Rate/BMR.

Formula:

BMR = (Body weight (in kg) * 10) + (Body height (in cm) * 6.25) – (current age * 5) + 5(male) or -161(female)

Practical Example: Suppose:-

A male age = 30 years

Weight = 70 Kg

Height = 180 Centimeter.

BMR = (70 * 10) + (180 * 6.25) – (30 * 5) + 5

= 700 + 1125 – 150 + 5

= 1680 Calories.

Note that, People use the word calorie in terms of body and food is in fact kilo-calorie. 1 kilo-calorie means 1000 calories. We say burning 1 gram of fat stored in the body releases 9 calories, but scientifically, 9000 calories that are released.
